The book follows the lives of two West Point grads determined to do their part in liberating South Vietnam from communist tyranny. As they get in country they realize combat is not quite like the movies and leadership and determination by the higher ups is questionable at best. Follow McLachlan and Goulet into their combat journey whereas both military and civilian leadership gets more and more feckless they are determined they can still salvage the country themselves. Follow them into the darkest secrets and missions of the war as SOG commandos where their duties take them into countries they would have never thought their tours of Vietnam would end up.
